Welcome to
Drawing with all the Senses

Picture
In this course, we will explore a variety of drawing techniques designed to
sharpen observational skills, critical thinking, conceptual abilities, rendering, and
confidence. I firmly believe that everyone can and does draw, and that the skills
gained through drawing can be applied to many other aspects of life. The goal of
this class is to further develop our ability to see, to find our unique visual voice,
and to translate these visions into renderings on paper. There will be tutorials and video
exercises, but the majority of the work will be self-directed and done as homework.

Look at this drawing and read the corresponding text below.

McLaren was a pioneering filmmaker, animator, and artist who often explored the possibilities beyond the surface of things.

In this drawing, he is asking us to see the same set of facts differently..."from all sides."

Could a camera capture such an image? Could  a computer?

What do you think?

Write your answer to these questions in the discussion section on CANVAS.
